Ran is the Norse goddess of the sea, known for her mysterious and sometimes fearsome nature. She dwells in the deep ocean and is said to capture sailors with her magical net, pulling them beneath the waves. Ran is married to Njord, the giant who rules over the sea’s calmer aspects, while she herself represents its darker, more unpredictable side.
Despite her ominous reputation, she also welcomes the drowned into her underwater hall, making her both a taker of life and a keeper of those lost to the sea. She is both beauty and danger, stillness and storm.
