Fimbulwinter is the great and terrible winter that precedes Ragnarök in Norse mythology. It lasts for three unending years with no summer in between. During Fimbulwinter, snow falls from all directions, the sun grows dim, and bitter cold and ice and hardship spread across the world. Human conflicts intensify as resources dwindle, and the chaos it brings helps set the stage for the world-ending events of Ragnarök.
